It's late and I'm going to be rambly. Sorry in advance, hehe. I just had to get a new journal entry up; I was sick of staring at the old one.
Deathly Hallows part 2 opened this past Friday.
As did Winnie the Pooh.
Like any good '90s child, I had to go see both.
I haven't been that big of a fan of David Yates' work since he came on board the franchise with HP5. I've always felt like he wasn't quite in sync with the books; he kept leaving out the little things that made the original tales so magical. The acting was so-so, the editing of the story the same. (Don't even get me started on the lack of chemistry between Daniel Radcliffe and Bonnie Wright)
This most recent installment was pretty darn good, considering.
I'm not going to give anything away, but the book to film adaptation was better in this one. The battle scenes were intense, just like in the book. Perhaps even doubly so, as the film had to make up for the cutting of the battle scene from the end of the sixth book.
I was bored out of my mind with Deathly Hallows part 1, which I suppose is partially the book's fault. My friend (I can't remember who) described it as "the world's longest camping trip." Yep.... However, I'd actually go see part 2 again. Good job, Yates. (Finally.)
Winnie the Pooh was very, very, very adorable. If you have an inner child, go and see it. There are elements from the original Winnie the Pooh, as well as new ones that actually blend fairly well. Some of the voices have changed, but that's to be expected. The original theme song is present, although it's sung by a woman with an incredibly annoying/weird voice. Tigger (my personal favorite) sings his little theme too, and is just as hyper as ever.
I almost teared up with nostalgia at several points.
